The summer 2026 festival season in the Balkan region continues with a diverse array of heritage, literary, and musical events. In Croatia, the 19th Renaissance Festival in Koprivnica has officially opened, transforming the city's ramparts into a historical living museum. The event features over 1,300 costumed participants from 13 European countries, as well as performers from Chile and Venezuela. Culinary and lifestyle events have expanded the seasonal schedule. In Rijeka, the inaugural Porto Gastro Festival showcased Kvarner regional flavors, while Našice hosted the Craft Beer Festival. Vrbovec held the 45th ‘Kaj su jeli naši stari’ festival, and the 5th Banovina Gastro Fest in Petrinja raised funds for children with developmental difficulties. Commemorative activities also marked the season, including a traditional pilgrimage in Zrin to honor the 83rd anniversary of the 1943 massacre of the Zrin people, which included the blessing of a new memorial church bell. In Serbia, the Wine Garden Summer Nights at the Jevremovac Botanical Garden continues to offer wine tastings and musical performances.
