The Croatian government has initiated several strategic and financial measures to support regional development and local infrastructure. In August 2026, the government approved the National Regional Development Plan through 2035, intended to serve as a medium-term strategic document to establish priorities and strengthen regional competitiveness, particularly in underdeveloped areas. This followed previous actions regarding flood recovery in the Podgora municipality. Shortly thereafter, the government approved municipal loans for six different municipalities to fund capital infrastructure projects. These investments include the construction of kindergartens in Generalski Stol, Visoko, and Zmijavci, as well as road reconstruction, digitalization, water infrastructure, cemetery construction, and energy renovations for a fire station. As of late August 2026, the approved loans for Preko, Fužine, Donji Kukuruzari, Visoko, Zmijavci, and Generalski Stol total over 6.2 million euros. These funds are being sourced from institutions including the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Zagrebačka banka, and Privredna banka Zagreb.
