The Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS) initiated a series of cultural programs and festivals across Cuba. Initial announcements detailed upcoming events, including the 36th edition of the audiovisual showcase ‘El Almacén de la Imagen’ in Camagüey, an electronic music festival in Holguín, and a political song conference in Guantánamo. By mid-August, the programming transitioned into active festivities. Artists from the AHS traveled to various communities to perform music, theater, and visual arts. These celebrations included the ‘Arte Fiel’ cycle, featuring the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional, exhibitions from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, and orchestral concerts, concluding with a gala by the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. In mid-August, these activities expanded into broader national commemorations. The Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC) celebrated its 65th anniversary with the ‘Arte Fiel’ program, which included art exhibitions by San Alejandro Academy students and intellectual panels. Simultaneously, the Federación de Mujeres Cubanas (FMC) marked its 66th anniversary in Granma and Matanzas with ceremonies honoring Vilma Espín Guillois and presenting the ‘23 de Agosto’ distinction. Further AHS initiatives included the ‘Jornada 13 de Agosto’ in San Juan y Martínez and the Guernica Visual Arts Salon in Las Tunas. Additionally, preparations began for the 34th Book Fair in Santiago de Cuba, scheduled for early September, which will feature Russia as the guest of honor.
