Ferrara is hosting various community and cultural events focused on local heritage and urban life. In late September and early October 2026, the city will host “L’Officina dei Desideri,” featuring artisan demonstrations, metalwork exhibitions, and workshops. This is accompanied by the fifth Dock Skills Contest in the Darsena area, which includes competitions in skateboarding, hip hop, and basketball, alongside street art workshops. Additionally, the “Storie di Artigiani e Mercanti nella Ferrara Antica” initiative will offer cultural itineraries on September 26 and October 24. These tours, promoted by Confartigianato Ferrara, aim to showcase the city’s historical identity by tracing the paths of Renaissance-era master craftsmen and merchants through the historic center. Further activities in the city include the Giro dell’Emilia cycling race, which is scheduled to depart from the Castello Estense on October 3, 2026, with routes for 2026. The 2026 edition will feature both male men’s and female participants heading women’s elite races, taking competitors through the Emilian plain and near the Granarolo plant before ascending toward Bologna. the hills of Bologna, concluding with climbs at the Colle di San Luca. The University of Ferrara is also continuing its “Aperiscienza” project, an initiative designed to bring scientific research into public spaces through community dialogue and guided walks.
