Memphis is hosting a series of community, arts, and cultural celebrations. In late August, the city organized 901 Day festivities, featuring a kickoff concert at the National Civil Rights Museum and various activities near Beale Street and W. C. Handy Park. Following these celebrations, the city's cultural calendar includes the Pink Palace Crafts Fair, a Mid-Autumn Festival, and a Broadway musical masquerade ball. The period of events concludes with the 20th anniversary of the RiverArtsFest in mid-October, which features juried artists and live performances along Riverside Drive. In early October, additional programming includes the Reharvest Memphis competition at Crosstown Concourse, where sustainable chefs use underutilized ingredients to benefit local organizations. Other scheduled activities include the 38th annual Frank Horton Classic and Trail Race at Shelby Farms, the 12th annual Paint Memphis Festival on Broad Avenue, and the Bartlett Fall Festival at W. J. Freeman Park, which features a barbeque contest and car show. Musical performances are also slated for the Crosstown Arts Green Room, featuring artists such as Caroline Davis, a Machine Duplication Recordings showcase, and Garrison Starr, followed by a Halloween-themed DJ event on October 31. Expanding the city's cultural offerings, the Downtown Memphis Commission has announced the inaugural Memphis Jazz Festival, a free three-day event intended to celebrate the city's musical legacy and support local and national talent. Other upcoming performances include the 10th annual free Shout-Out Shakespeare series featuring ‘Love’s Labor’s Lost’, comedy showcases at Hattiloo Theatre, a bilingual performance of ‘The Ant & Mr. Q’ by Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group, and ‘Playhouse Pours’, an interactive fundraiser hosted by Playhouse on the Square.
