San Juan del Río has implemented several cultural and economic initiatives to boost regional tourism and local commerce. The Universidad Tecnológica de San Juan del Río launched “La Ciudad,” a photographic exhibition of historical images from the Municipal Historical Archive to commemorate the municipality’s 495th anniversary and its 40th year as a Zone of Historical Monuments. The exhibition remained open to the public until October 2. In support of local commerce, the municipality organized its inaugural Coffee Festival on September 27 at Jardín Independencia. As part of the “Consume Local” program, the event featured over 20 local coffee shops, bakeries, and exhibitors, alongside musical performances and art sales. The festival attracted approximately 15,000 visitors from neighboring states, including Guanajuato, Hidalgo, and the State of Mexico, generating an estimated economic impact of 2.5 million pesos. Building on this momentum, the municipality hosted Expo Acuario from October 16 to 18 at Jardín Independencia. The exhibition exceeded initial expectations, attracting over 25,000 visitors from states such as Michoacán, Hidalgo, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Guanajuato. The event, which featured more than 40 stands and educational talks on animal welfare and axolotl care, generated an estimated 2.5 million pesos in economic activity. Alongside these events, municipal authorities completed the rehabilitation of Rafael Ayala Street in the downtown area. The project cost over 2.3 million pesos and included upgrades to drainage and potable water networks, new sidewalks, signage, and the installation of wet cobblestone, aimed at benefiting approximately 150 residents by enhancing mobility and local services. In terms of regional connectivity, the government of Querétaro has completed the third stage of the Cerro Gordo–El Sitio road modernization project. This phase required a 9.82 million peso investment to rehabilitate over 10,000 square meters of pavement.
