Municipalities in Turkey are organizing various cultural, artistic, and liberation festivals to commemorate historical milestones and preserve local heritage. In Edremit, Mayor Mehmet Ertaş announced a program running from August 16 to September 9, featuring the 8th Edremit Book Fair, Sarıkız Hayrı wrestling, and celebrations for August 30 Victory Day and the anniversary of the city’s liberation from occupation. ~~Similar commemorative events are occurring in other regions, such as~~ In Demirci, Manisa, ~~where a liberation festival included~~ the 2nd Liberation Festival, running from August 25 to 30, has featured large parades with approximately 3,000 participants, including horseback riders, folk dance groups, and ~~traditional carpet weaving workshops,~~ military bands. Musical performances by artists such as Zara and in Grup İkilem have drawn thousands of attendees. During the festivities, Mayor Erkan Kara and Vice Mayor İsmail Hakkı Gül presented a geographically indicated Demirci carpet to performers. To honor the national holiday, 15 volunteer women from the Demirci Public Education Center, led by instructor Emine Gülsen, spent 10 days creating a massive knitted Turkish flag composed of 813 individual motifs. In Altıeylül, Balıkesir, ~~which~~ the municipality has scheduled ~~musical recitals and military band performances~~ a series of events from August 27 through September 6 to mark its ~~own~~ liberation anniversary. The program includes musical recitals, military band performances, and concerts at Asuva Park, intended to pass the spirit of the national struggle to future generations.
