Cultural programming in Guarulhos, Brazil, has expanded through various literary and audiovisual initiatives. In late September, organizers announced the 4th International Book Biennial, scheduled for November 6 to 15, 2026, at Espaço Inter. Themed ‘Guarulhos: A City that Reads and Makes History’, the event aims to attract over 250,000 visitors with activities including author appearances, theatrical shows, and book sales. In mid-October, the municipal Secretariat of Culture and Tourism launched the CineBiblioteca project. This initiative provides free film screenings at the Monteiro Lobato, Orobó Jardim Guaracy, and Cidade Seródio libraries to decentralize cultural access and use audiovisual tools to foster reading interests among children. These free cinema sessions continue to be a part of the city’s ongoing cultural offerings. In mid-October, the city’s community-focused programming also expanded to include professional development. Through partnerships with Senai, Guarulhos began offering various professional qualification programs as part of a broader range of free vocational courses available in the region.
