Various cultural, theatrical, and musical performances are scheduled across Brazil throughout September. Initial programming includes diverse productions such as ‘Braseiro’ in Feira de Santana, which examines patriarchal violence, and ‘Concerto Afrobrasileirando’ in the same region. Other theatrical works include ‘Ombela’ in Recife, focusing on Angolan poetry, and ‘Vida de Negro’ in Trindade, which addresses Afro-Brazilian ancestry. Dance events include the Semana Paulista de Dança in São Paulo and the debut of ‘Outros futuros’ in Duque de Caxias. Subsequent scheduled events expand to include musical performances, such as the Minas ao Luar project in Minas Gerais featuring Loop Rock and Ara Ketu. In Rio de Janeiro, a tribute to Rita Lee is planned, while the theatrical production ‘Ânima’ is set to perform in Natal, presenting stories of historical women. Adding to the musical lineup, singer João Gomes is scheduled to perform at the Rock in Rio festival. His set is expected to feature Northeastern Brazilian cultural elements, including a carnival procession with a 16-meter high Galo da Madrugada and regional figures such as the Boi da Macuca and Maracatu Piaba de Ouro. Accompanying Gomes will be accordionist and composer Karol Maciel, whose participation highlights the presence of forró and Northeastern musical traditions at the festival.
