Organized by the city government, it is recognized as the world's largest tango event, featuring over 2,000 artists across approximately 50 venues and 34 city neighborhoods. The festival utilizes historic venues, including Notable Bars and the Museo Casa Carlos Gardel, to host concerts, guided tours, and collector meetings. Programs in neighborhoods such as San Telmo, La Boca, and Almagro offer everything from traditional interpretations to contemporary tango fusion. Specific venues like the Centro Cultural 25 de Mayo are hosting orchestral performances, while the Teatro Gran Rivadavia hosts the duo Baglietto/Vitale. Many activities are free to the public. The festival also hosts the 24th edition of the Tango World Championship, with approximately 800 couples from 47 countries competing in Tango de Pista and Tango Escenario. Finals are scheduled for September 1 and 2 at the Teatro Gran Rex. Regional activities extend to Trelew, where Complementing the third edition of ‘La Milongueada’ main festival, Casa de Pepino is being held at the Municipal Cultural Center. Other events include the Escenario Festival in Buenos Aires hosting a tango event featuring an introductory class for beginners followed by a milonga with live music by Dúo Latitudes. This event is designed to be inclusive for both experienced dancers and Iguazú Suena in Puerto Iguazú. newcomers, operating on a voluntary contribution basis.
