Eumseong County is organizing a series of cultural and sporting events scheduled for October, centered around the 45th Seolseong Cultural Festival. Initial preparations focused on the 2026 Junggoje National Pansori Competition at the Hanbit Welfare Center to preserve the legacy of master singer Yeom Gye-dal. The festival period includes the 20th Chungcheongbuk-do Para Games, running from October 1 to 2. This event features approximately 2,300 athletes and officials from 11 cities and counties competing in 17 sports, with an opening ceremony including performances by the Gugak band Granada and singers Geobukgi and Shin Seung-tae. The 45th Seolseong Cultural Festival will be held from October 16 to 17 at the Eumseong General Stadium. Under the theme ‘Connecting Tradition and Opening the Future,’ the program includes the reenactment of the Eumseong Turtle Play, pansori competitions, and traditional wedding ceremonies. The festival aims to highlight local intangible heritage and foster unity among residents, former residents, and foreign inhabitants. Specific programming for the festival includes a rice tteokbokki sharing event, the 21st Eumseong County Citizen Awards, and performances by Far East University students. To promote multicultural exchange, the event will feature the Seolseong Global Festival and the BBS Youth Harmony Square. Visitors can access 25 experience booths offering activities such as natural dyeing, traditional calligraphy, and folk games. The festivities will conclude on October 18 with the 43rd Eumseong County Citizens' Sports Festival, which brings together residents from nine townships to foster community spirit through competition.
