The city of Puebla is organizing a series of cultural events in September 2026. Initially, the municipal government announced the inaugural Cultural Heritage Days to commemorate the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France. This program, supported by the French Embassy, includes over 50 activities across 30 locations, involving researchers and creatives to explore architectural, artistic, and gastronomic heritage. To celebrate the 216th anniversary of Mexican Independence, the city has scheduled a monumental videomapping spectacle at the facade of the Puebla Cathedral. This free light show is set for September 12, 13, 14, and 16, 2026, consisting of six nightly performances. The broader cultural agenda includes a documentary film cycle at Museo Amparo, folk dance in the Zócalo, and a ‘Return to Hogwarts’ symphonic concert by the Iberoamericana Orchestra at the National Railway Museum. Additionally, a social welfare fair will feature over 70 producers of local goods, such as textiles, honey, and mezcal. Parallel to these festivities, the municipal government government, led by Mayor Pepe Chedraui, has implemented ‘Jornadas Imparables’ (Unstoppable Days), a social assistance initiative that has provided free medical services, legal orientation, and workshops to more than 10,400 people across various districts and housing units. The administration has also promoted public health through musicalized physical activity sessions organized by the Municipal Institute of Sports and hosted an International Fair for Social Welfare, which included delegations from Brazil, Peru, and Colombia to promote local consumption and regional identity.
