Cultural commemorations and urban works in Xalapa

The city of Xalapa, Veracruz, has held several commemorative events. The City Council celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Palacio Municipal, an event that included a parade of former mayors and musical performances by the Xalapa Municipal Orchestra. Additionally, the city prepared to celebrate the third anniversary of the Xallitic neighborhood receiving the ‘Barrio Mágico’ distinction. The four-day program includes music, dance, gastronomy, and artisanal workshops intended to promote local history and tourism. As part of ongoing municipal developments, Mayor Daniela Griego Ceballos has been inspecting the rehabilitation of the Paseo de Los Lagos. The 90-day project focuses on the first lake circuit and is expected to benefit approximately 250,000 people. Improvements include the installation of new slabs, a jogging track, energy-efficient lighting, and tactile lines to assist visually impaired visitors. Preparations continue for the Xallitic ‘Barrio Mágico’ anniversary festivities, which are scheduled to take place from August 20 to 23, featuring music, dance, gastronomy, and artisanal exhibitions to promote the neighborhood’s cultural identity.
