Cultural programming and community events continue to expand across various regions in Belgium. Previous activities included the ‘T’OOST’ festival in Oosterzele, Flemish Poetry Days in Deinze, and the ‘Re\turn’ photography exhibition in Mechelen, alongside upcoming seasonal initiatives like the Mix’Cité Festival in Herstal. As the autumn season approaches, significant museum openings and exhibitions are scheduled. A major development is the opening of the Kanal-Centre Pompidou in Brussels on November 28, 2026. This multidisciplinary museum of modern and contemporary art, a partnership with between the Paris-based museum that Brussels-Capital Region and the Centre Pompidou, will debut with nine ten inaugural exhibitions. The launch will feature a free opening weekend including live performances, concerts, and workshops, though visitors are required to book time slots. In Flanders, the Design Museum in Ghent is slated to reopen in early October with exhibitions centered on design and democracy. Antwerp’s MoMu will present a showcase on the ‘Six’, the creators responsible for elevating Belgian fashion, while Bruges’s BRUSK art center will host digital art by Refik Anadol. Brussels also hosts the ‘Arrow Africa Legacy’ exhibition at Espace Vanderborght. This collection features Vanderborght, featuring 265 works, works ranging from classical Central and West African sculptures and bronzes to contemporary pieces by artists such as Aboudia, Chéri Samba, pieces. Other upcoming Brussels highlights include Brussels Design Week, featuring over 100 events, and Omar Ba. the 20th anniversary of Brussels Art Square in the Sablon quarter. Additionally, the 41st Namur International Francophone Film Festival (FIFF) is scheduled from September 30 to October 4, themed ‘the bonds that shape and unite all of us’, and an exhibition of Korean traditional painting will run through November 13.
