Various cultural and culinary festivals have taken place in northern Greece during September 2026. In Naoussa, the Street Food Festival – Wine Edition concluded on September 6 at the Municipal Park. The three-day event focused on local wine traditions, specifically the Xinomavro grape, and featured culinary demonstrations such as ‘A Sweet Taste in the Sphere of Xinomavro.’ Musical entertainment included performances by DJ Bobito and the rock group 1550. On September 17, a large-scale traditional festival was held at Navarinou Square in Thessaloniki. This free event featured a 25-piece musical ensemble performing traditional songs and dances, with participation from the Lyceum of Greek Women. In the lead-up to the folk tradition events in Ano Poli, several other heritage activities were scheduled for Thessaloniki. These included the ‘Análogoio’ Festival 2026, which presented 14 theatrical works, and free guided walking tours through Western Thessaloniki to showcase 19th-century architectural heritage. Additionally, an eco-cultural festival was planned for the historic Abbot-De La Salle garden in Neapoli-Sykies. Following this, these, the Friends of Tradition Cultural and Folklore Association of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the 3rd Municipal Community of Thessaloniki, organized a three-day series of folk tradition events in Ano Poli from September 22 to September 26. The program included a musical parade through the alleys of Ano Poli on September 22, moving from Stergiou Polyodorou Square to the courtyard of the Prophet Elias Holy Temple. Additionally, on September 25, the 21st Sergianis in Our Folk Tradition was held at Terpsithea Square, focusing on the music and traditions of the North Aegean islands and the Sporades with participation from the Skopelos Cultural and Folklore Association. Looking ahead, Thessaloniki is scheduled to host two significant wine events. The ‘Thessaloniki Wine Selfie’ will take place on September 27 and 28 at Warehouse C in the Port of Thessaloniki, featuring approximately 250 labels with a focus on the Moschofilero variety. Furthermore, the ‘Peloponnese Wine Festival – Thessaloniki Edition’ is set for October 12 at the Makedonia Palace, showcasing 100 wines from 33 wineries in the Peloponnese region.
