Cultural and culinary festivals in Zacatecas

Zacatecas is hosting various cultural events in 2026. The National Fair of Zacatecas (FENAZA) was scheduled for September 4 to 20 to mark the 480th anniversary of the state’s founding, featuring gastronomy, crafts, and musical performances. In conjunction with regional cultural activities, the Zacatecas National Book Fair 2026 has focused on literature, philosophy, and historical heritage. The fair includes academic sessions on philosophical texts and novels, as well as discussions regarding the historical importance of the “Camino Real de Tierra Adentro” to the identity of Zacatecas. Expanding on the state's culinary and cultural programming, the National Chamber of the Baking Industry (Canainpa) has announced the inaugural Zacatecas Bread Festival. Scheduled for October 23 to 25 at the Miguel Auza plaza, the event aims to promote traditional regional breads, including cemita, suspiros, and condoche. The festival seeks to connect local bakers with university researchers to trace the historical origins of these breads, specifically those traditionally consumed by regional miners. Additionally, the initiative will support the newly formed Canainpa delegation in Zacatecas, with local bakers donating bread during the celebrations to raise funds for the association.
