Major curling events are being organized and hosted in British Columbia. The Vernon Curling Club has been selected to host the 2027 and 2029 World Mixed Fours Curling Championships, an initiative intended to increase the sport’s visibility in the North Okanagan region. Karri Willms, an education services officer for the World Curling Federation, facilitated the opportunity to bring the tournament to the area. Club manager Kevin Geistlinger noted that the events are expected to attract diverse visitors and increase local exposure to the sport, with the championships potentially involving teams from up to 68 eligible countries. In preparation for upcoming events, the Vernon Curling Club is hosting the Prestige Hotels and Resorts Curling Classic from October 2 to 5, which serves as a satellite event for the Grand Slam of Curling. Additionally, the 2026 Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic is scheduled for October 8 to 11 in Penticton. This World Curling Tour event will feature 24 teams, including 12 international competitors and several top-ranked players such as world No. 1 Yannick Schwaller and Swedish Olympian Oskar Eriksson. The tournament offers a total prize purse of $100,000.
