Various cycling and outdoor tourism events are taking place across different regions of Italy. In late August, cycling activities included a time trial in Avezzano and a guided excursion through Monviso Park. By late September, the focus shifted to Sulmona, which serves as the hub for the 27th Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) National Week of Hiking and Cycle Tourism. This event features approximately 40 activities, including hiking and mountain biking, alongside cultural exhibitions and musical performances intended to support regional development in Abruzzo. During the Sulmona festivities, which are expected to draw approximately 1,800 hikers, the program includes guided walks, e-bike tours, and musical performances such as Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’. Parallel to these sporting events, Sulmona is renewing its twinning relationship with the Romanian city of Constanta, a connection based on their shared namesake, the poet Ovid. To celebrate this bond, the ninth edition of the ‘Ovidio Running’ event is being held in the historic center, with local officials noting the partnership serves as a driver for cultural exchange and tourism promotion.
