Puebla has been selected to host ‘Desafío Puebla by La Vuelta España 2027’ on March 7, 2027. This international cycling event is part of the ‘Desafío México by La Vuelta España’ circuit, joining previous host cities Ensenada and Morelos. Local officials expect approximately 1,000 cyclists to participate, aiming to promote tourism and economic benefits through the competition. In a separate regional development, the mining town of Hidalgo del Parral in Chihuahua is scheduled to host the Travesía de los Pueblos Mineros MTB 2026 on October 24 and 25. This mountain biking competition offers three different distances ranging from 22km to 80km to combine sports with local historical and natural tourism. Recent updates regarding the Puebla event note that it is sponsored by Bankaool. During the announcement, Puebla Mayor Pepe Chedraui emphasized the city’s commitment to integrating “sports, art, and culture to promote local economic activity and tourism.” The Travesía de los Pueblos Mineros MTB 2026, organized by the Parral City Council and local sports institutes, includes an 80km advanced route, a 55km intermediate route, and a 22km recreational ride.
