The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) Disciplinary Committee has issued a series of fines to various clubs and personnel in the Cyprus League during the 2026-2027 season. Initial sanctions targeted Omonia Nicosia for improper coach behavior and the use of inappropriate banners, as well as AEL Limassol and Nea Salamis for misconduct involving yellow cards, offensive behavior toward referees, and fans throwing objects onto the pitch. Subsequent disciplinary actions expanded to include Apollon Limassol and APOEL Nicosia, with fines issued for fan misconduct such as the use of LED flares, lasers, and inappropriate banners. APOEL also faced penalties for team behavior that delayed a match start. Other sanctions involved Pafos FC for roster eligibility issues, ASIL Lysi for violent conduct, and AEL Limassol regarding fan alcohol consumption. In response to the season’s proceedings, Giannis Antoniades, President of the CFA Judicial Committee, clarified the committee’s operational structure. Following a recent change, the CFA replaced the Sports Judge institution with a three-member Judicial Committee. Antoniades stated that the committee’s rulings are “based strictly on the disciplinary regulations voted on by the clubs themselves and official championship announcements.” He noted that many penalties are codified within these regulations, which limits the committee’s discretionary power, and called for cooperation between clubs and fans to ensure the safe conduct of matches.
