Food safety authorities in the Czech Republic have identified several hazardous products during recent inspections and health warnings. In late October, the State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZPI) reported finding moldy walnuts and wheat flour contaminated with pests in Smržovka. Inspectors also discovered banned batches of infant formula in Děčín, Jablonec nad Nisou, and Humpolec. These specific formula batches, which were subject to a February withdrawal order, are suspected of containing the toxin cereulide. Shortly after, health Health authorities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia issued warnings regarding contaminated almond flakes produced by K-Servis Praha. Batch L25833, sold through the Makro retail network, was linked to Clostridium bacteria that pose a risk of botulism. Investigations by hygienists in Prague also identified contaminated almonds within milk chocolate nougat sweets sold in the city. In early November, the SZPI identified Salmonella Infantis in chicken quarters sold at a Lidl store in Pardubice. The product, produced by Romanian company Avicarvil Food and Distribution SRL, marks the third such finding from this supplier in less than two months. Although the specific batch has likely passed its expiration date, officials warn that consumers who purchased and froze the meat may still face risks. Additionally, the Czech Hygiene Service issued further warnings regarding botulism risks. Affected products include almond flakes from Racional CZ, almond kernels from MAKRO, and various Smart Protein Granola products. Authorities are currently recalling specific batches from the market.
