Czech medical facilities are expanding services related to maternal and reproductive health. In early September, Benešov Hospital established a new lactation clinic to provide specialized consultations on breastfeeding and postpartum support. This initiative follows reports of high demand for midwifery services, with the Union of Midwives noting that approximately one-third of women were unable to secure home visits due to capacity constraints. By late September, other facilities introduced programs focused on maternity and fertility. The AGEL Family Maternity Hospital in Přerov held open house events featuring tours of neonatal departments and demonstrations of water birth methods. Concurrently, the PRONATAL clinic launched a fertility awareness campaign offering free screenings, such as ovarian reserve and spermogram tests, to encourage early reproductive health monitoring. By late September, the maternity hospital in Slaný reported an increase in births, contrasting with a national downward trend. While the Czech Statistical Office noted that live births fell by 7.9 percent year-on-year—dropping from 84,311 in 2024 to 77,636 in 2025—Slaný recorded 343 births as of September 24, compared to 328 during the same period the previous year. To support natural childbirth, the Slaný facility introduced services including water births, birth pools, aromatherapy, and ‘gentle cesarean section’ practices to minimize separation between mother and child. Dr. Markéta Matoušková, head of the gynecology and obstetrics department, stated that while the hospital supports natural methods, medical readiness remains a priority through regular training and collaborations with clinics in Prague and Kladno for neonatal transfers.
