August 2026 will host several high‑profile astronomical phenomena. A total solar eclipse on 12 August will produce deep partial coverage (≈86 %) over Central Europe, with the path of totality crossing Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Portugal; Turkey will see only a partial eclipse. In regions such as Germany, the moon is expected to cover approximately 88 percent of the sun's disk, particularly visible in the evening. Viewers are cautioned to use only certified solar eclipse glasses for safe observation. The same morning a rare six‑planet alignment (Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune) will be visible in the dawn sky, with Mars and Saturn naked‑eye bright.
