The Czech Republic’s annual science popularization event, scheduled for September 25, 2026, has rebranded from ‘Noc vědců’ (Scientists’ Night) to ‘Noc vědy’ (Science Night). This change follows a decision by organizers and participants to adopt a gender-neutral term. Now in its 21st year, the event focuses on the theme of ‘Communication,’ exploring interactions between humans, machines, and plants. More than 120 institutions, including the Czech Academy of Sciences, universities, museums, and science centers, will participate by opening laboratories and research facilities to the public. Specific programming includes workshops and excursions at Palacký University in the Olomouc region, as well as demonstrations of student projects at the Czech Technical University in Prague. These projects range from autonomous lunar rovers and modular rockets to drone technology and racing teams. Additional details for the 2026 event highlight a significant program at the Technical University of Liberec, which will feature its largest offering in eight years with over 70 stations across nine buildings. Activities there include exploring robot communication via AI and monitoring fatigue through sensor-equipped clothing. In the Karlovy Vary region, including Ostrov, Sokolov, and Chodov, the public can engage with deepfake detection, virtual reality, hydrogen technology, and space communication. The entire program is free to the public.
