Recent reports highlight significant transportation incidents in the Czech Republic involving both rail and road travel. In the České Budějovice region, a 33-year-old train driver faces criminal charges for public endangerment following a collision near Zliv. The accident, which occurred during a morning rush hour, involved an express train entering the path of an oncoming passenger train after the driver failed to stop at a signal. The incident resulted in 47 injuries and infrastructure damage exceeding 80 million CZK. On the roads, a fatal head-on collision between a Škoda and a Mercedes-Benz occurred on the I/20 road between Bečov nad Teplou and Karlovy Vary, resulting in the death of a 36-year-old driver. Investigations indicated the deceased was operating a vehicle without a valid technical inspection while under a court-ordered driving ban. Additionally, authorities ban until 2027. Additional serious accidents have been reported across the country. In Pardubice, a motorcyclist died following a collision with a van at an intersection, while in Olomouc, a passenger train collided with a van, injuring the van driver. Other incidents include a collision in Čejč involving a truck and a car carrying a child, and a driver in Prague who crashed into a wall while under the influence of cocaine. Authorities in the Trutnov region are also investigating a dangerous overtaking maneuver that forced another vehicle into a ditch.
