The 2026 Dak Lak Durian ~~Festival~~ Festival, themed ‘Dak Lak Durian - Connecting Far and Wide,’ featured a large-scale parade in Buon Ma Thuot involving 525 pickup trucks carrying more than 1,000 tons of durian. The event earned official recognition from Guinness World Records as the ‘world’s longest durian pickup truck convoy.’ Additionally, the Vietnam Record Organization recognized a 16-meter wide and 18-meter high durian basket model as the ‘largest durian basket model in Vietnam.’ According to Le Anh Trung, Chairman of the Dak Lak Durian Association, the festival, which runs from August 15 to September 2, aims to promote the province’s agricultural brand to a global audience. The convoy parade began at Tan An Square and traveled through various routes toward Buon Ma Thuot, attracting large crowds of locals and tourists. Following an investigation into a controversy during the ~~festival's~~ festival’s rehearsals, the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has revoked the credentials of a TikToker identified as the owner of the account F. V. V. The individual was filmed using profanity and making inappropriate remarks while wearing an official KOL badge during a rehearsal for the Guinness World Record attempt on Vo Nguyen Giap Street. Authorities stated the behavior stemmed from “immaturity and a lack of awareness regarding the responsibilities of a Key Opinion Leader.” As a result, the individual was required to write a formal commitment and issue a public apology to the community. The TikToker has since removed the video and admitted the content was “impolite and insensitive.”
