Dak Lak province has focused on significant infrastructure developments and disaster preparedness. Following a 45-day intensive campaign, the province successfully cleared land for 53 key infrastructure projects, including the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway and Bai Goc Port. This initiative aimed to resolve legal and procedural bottlenecks to support public investment and regional growth. In response to potential heavy rain and storms, authorities have shifted focus toward mitigating natural disaster risks. The province is reviewing approximately 200 locations vulnerable to landslides and flooding along highways. To address these risks, Dak Lak is investing nearly 400 billion VND into 33 transport infrastructure projects, specifically targeting road surfaces and drainage systems. Recent heavy rainfall has escalated these risks, with meteorological authorities forecasting cumulative rainfall between 10mm and 40mm, and exceeding 40mm in some areas. Warnings have been issued for high-risk zones along the Krong Ana, Krong Nang, and Krong Pach rivers, as well as steep terrains and low-lying regions. The provincial People's Committee has directed authorities to enhance disaster prevention, monitor critical infrastructure like bridges and roads, and prepare evacuation plans. In Hoa Thinh commune, heavy rains have already caused rice crops to flood and collapse. In response, local Local military, police, and militia forces have been mobilized to assist farmers with manual harvesting to minimize economic losses. Recent reports indicate that heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to rice crops, leaving many farmers with minimal profits. In eastern Dak Lak, prolonged rain has flattened and partially submerged crops. One local farmer, Vo Van Duc, reported that after three months of cultivating 1,000 square meters, his family earned a profit of only 35,000 VND (roughly $1.40 USD) due to a lower yield of approximately 450kg and reduced selling prices.
