Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche matchup
Overview
The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche continue their high-stakes Central Division rivalry. In their most recent matchup at the American Airlines Center, the Stars secured a 3-2 shootout victory. Roope Hintz clinched the win for Dallas by scoring in the fourth round of the shootout, while goaltender Casey DeSmith provided critical support with three saves during the tie-breaking period.
The contest was marked by officiating controversy, as two Avalanche goals were disallowed in the first period due to offsides and a kicking motion. While Gabriel Landeskog scored for Colorado during regulation, Brock Nelson tied the game at 2-2. Colorado narrowly missed a victory in overtime when Arttu Hyry hit the post.
Roster and disciplinary issues persist for both clubs. Dallas forward Matt Duchene remains sidelined for approximately three months following core muscle surgery, a blow to a Stars offense that has struggled with consistency. Physicality remains a factor in the series, highlighted by a fight involving Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon.
