Dam Vinh Hung birthday charity and invitation controversy

Overview

Vietnamese singer Dam Vinh Hung initiated a public request ahead of his birthday, asking friends and colleagues to donate funds to the Mach Song Fund—a charity supporting children with critical illnesses—instead of sending celebratory flowers. He cited the wastefulness of flowers and a lack of space in his current rental home as reasons for the request.

Following his birthday on October 2, the singer issued a public apology after realizing he had accidentally omitted several people from his invitation list. He described himself as being “extremely distressed” by the oversight, attributing the error to being “forgetful” due to a busy schedule. Fellow artists and fans responded with sympathy and encouragement.
