British speedway rider Dan Bewley sustained a serious injury during a Danish league match on May 20, resulting in a broken femur and a damaged vertebra. The accident occurred when Bewley lost control of his motorcycle and struck an inflatable barrier. Due to the severity of the injury, he was forced to miss the Team World Cup final in Warsaw to prioritize his health. By September, Bewley returned to competition for Betard Sparta Wrocław in a PGE Ekstraliga match against Unia Leszno. Although he showed physical signs of the injury during the race, he contributed to a dominant victory for his team. Bewley noted that while he cannot yet participate in high-impact activities like football, he feels capable of racing motorcycles. In the PGE Ekstraliga semi-finals, Bewley continued his return, scoring 10 points including two bonuses, a performance praised by coach Piotr Protasiewicz. However, despite his successful racing in Poland, he remains sidelined in the UK. Due to league regulations regarding transfer windows and roster changes after 75% of the regular season has been completed, Bewley is ineligible to rejoin the Belle Vue Aces for the British league play-offs. He has indicated that he expects to be fully ready for the 2027 season.
