The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has expanded its investment initiatives to increase retail participation in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP). Following the launch of the Student Share Grant Initiative for tertiary students and a partnership with the Kwara State Government to support female teachers, the ADF has introduced the Women’s Share Subscription Grant Initiative. This program targets up to two million vulnerable Nigerian women, including low- and middle-income earners, verified ADF program participants, non-commissioned servicewomen, and service widows. The women’s initiative features two pathways: a Matching Grant Track, providing 10 additional shares for every 10 subscribed, and an Unconditional Grant Track, where the foundation funds 20 shares for qualifying beneficiaries. Recent updates indicate the total program for students and vulnerable women is valued at approximately N40 billion, with roughly N25 billion earmarked specifically for the student component. The initiative aims to help up to five million tertiary students and two million vulnerable women become shareholders. In response to high interest, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has extended the IPO application deadline to October 27, 2026, following approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The extension is intended to facilitate participation from investors across various African markets by allowing more time for account opening and regulatory compliance. The IPO involves the sale of 4.1 billion ordinary shares at ₦525 each, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares. If fully subscribed, the offering is expected to raise approximately ₦2.15 trillion to fund expansion operations. The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) noted the IPO targets a milestone of 10 million investors operations, including efforts to broaden double the Nigerian capital market's base. 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery capacity by 2030. Aliko Dangote has characterized the offering as the ‘People’s IPO’ to emphasize broadening ownership.
