Following his second-round TKO victory over Fabio Wardley to retain the WBO heavyweight title, Daniel Dubois has called for “big money and big fights.” Promoter Frank Warren has indicated that a return to the ring is planned for February 2027, though an opponent has not yet been finalized. Several high-profile matchups are under consideration. Frank Warren is weighing a unification bout against Agit Kabayel, pending Kabayel’s upcoming defense in Germany. Meanwhile, IBF heavyweight champion Filip Hrgovic, who was present at the Wardley fight, has expressed interest in a unification bout to avenge his 2024 defeat. However, Hrgovic must first fulfill mandatory obligations, with his management expecting his next fight to be against Frank Sanchez in Croatia. Looking further ahead, boxing journalist Gareth A. Davies has predicted a major domestic showdown between Dubois and Tyson Fury in 2027. The feasibility of such a clash likely depends on Fury’s performance in his scheduled December bout against Anthony Joshua. Following his recent rematch victory over Wardley at the O2 Arena, Dubois's status as the premier heavyweight has become a subject of debate among experts. While his performance was described as destructive, former champion David Haye suggested that Dubois may not yet be the undisputed number one, citing undefeated contenders like Agit Kabayel and the ongoing relevance of Filip Hrgovic.
