DAZN has announced it will provide free-to-air streaming of a UEFA Champions League match conference in Germany on Tuesday, October 13. This event marks the first time in eight years that midweek Champions League matches have been available for free via streaming in the country, requiring only a free registration rather than a paid subscription. The free coverage will span five and a half hours starting at 18:00 and will include fixtures such as RB Leipzig vs. PSV Eindhoven, Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester United, and Galatasaray Istanbul vs. FC Barcelona. However, the free offering excludes the FC Bayern Munich match against Viking Stavanger, as the broadcasting rights for that specific game are held exclusively by Prime Video. In Germany, DAZN holds the rights to 186 out of 203 Champions League matches, while Prime Video holds the remaining exclusive rights. Changes to broadcasting rights are expected to occur again starting with the 2027/2028 season. While the conference is free to view, individual matches cannot be watched as standalone live streams without a DAZN Unlimited subscription. This strategy follows a similar approach used by the streamer during the 2025 Club World Cup to increase reach without a paywall.
