In July 2026, DC Comics unveiled its ‘Next Level’ publishing initiative at San Diego Comic-Con. The announcement featured a new Batman series titled ‘Shadow of the Bat’ by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez, which is intended to be a psychological exploration of Gotham’s institutions. Other announced titles included new series for Vixen, Static, and The Demon, as well as a Batman-Day one-shot. By August 2026, the focus shifted to specific upcoming releases and critical reception. Scheduled titles included ‘Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #54’, ‘Batwoman #6’, and ‘Catwoman #90’. Additionally, the comic ‘Batman: City of Madness’ by Christian Ward drew critical attention for its visual style and its depiction of an alternate version of Gotham City. Mid-August 2026 updates confirmed several upcoming releases for the US market scheduled for August 19, 2026. These include ‘Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #54’, ‘Dark Knights of Steel II #2’, and ‘Superman Unlimited #16’, alongside hardcover and trade paperback formats of ‘Batman/Superman: World’s Finest – Vol 9: The Merger’.
