German actor Mario Adorf died on April 8, 2026, at the age of 95 in his Paris apartment following a short illness. His career included more than 200 roles in film and television across Germany, Italy, and France, with notable credits such as ‘The Tin Drum’ and ‘Lola’. Following a public memorial service held in Munich in May, Adorf was buried in early October in Saint-Tropez, France. The interment took place at the ‘Cimetière Marin’ in a private ceremony attended only by immediate family, fulfilling the actor’s prior request to be laid to rest near the Mediterranean Sea. According to his longtime manager, Michael Stark, the date of the burial was kept secret to prevent disturbances and to honor Adorf’s wish for a ‘simple and modest service’. His widow, Monique, had also expressed a desire to avoid a burial during the busy summer season in Saint-Tropez. A small memorial plaque now marks his grave among the pine trees in the cemetery overlooking the sea.
