Actor RJ Mitte, recognized for his role as Walter ‘Flynn’ White Jr. in the television series ‘Breaking Bad’, died by suicide on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the age of 34. His representatives confirmed he passed away at his residence in Brownsville, Texas, describing him as a ‘beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate.’ Mitte, who lived with cerebral palsy, was a notable advocate who used his platform to promote inclusion and representation. He served as an ambassador for organizations including United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and was the president of The Mitte Foundation. Following his death, co-stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Anna Gunn expressed deep sadness, remembering Mitte’s ‘determination and authenticity.’ Mitte’s mother, Dyna Mitte, reported discovering her son after he failed to answer her calls on Monday morning. She noted that he had not left a suicide note and suggested the decision may have been a ‘spur of the moment’ act. Dyna revealed she had encouraged RJ to seek therapy over the previous three months, but he had insisted he was managing his mental health. She also clarified that he was experiencing a ‘productive period’ in his career and dismissed claims of financial instability, though she noted he faced stress from relationship tensions between his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, and his family. In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Bryan Cranston revealed that he and Mitte had been attempting to coordinate a meeting in the weeks prior to his death, but were unable to finalize plans due to conflicting locations in New York and Texas. Cranston used the moment to advocate for mental health awareness, urging those experiencing depression to seek professional assistance. Mitte’s sister, Lacianne Carriere, also shared a tribute on social media, describing him as her ‘other half.’
