French media figure Philippe Bouvard died at the age of 96 at his home in Cannes on August 24. A prolific journalist, writer, and broadcaster, Bouvard’s career spanned seven decades and included significant contributions to print media, radio, and television. He was widely recognized for creating and hosting the radio program ‘Les Grosses Têtes’ on RTL for 37 years, as well as the television series ‘Le Petit Théâtre de Bouvard’. His professional journey began at Le Figaro in 1952. Following his death, colleagues described him as a ‘master’ of the industry, and French President Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to him as a ‘free spirit.’ His funeral was held on Monday, August 31, in Cannes. The ceremony took place Cannes at the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Voyage church and church. The ceremony was attended by approximately 600 people, including family, media personalities, and local officials. His widow, Colette Sauvage Bouvard, was joined by various prominent figures from the French media and political spheres, including actress personalities such as Chantal Ladesou, singer Ladesou and Marianne James, former host Julien Lepers, Jacques Mailhot, and Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti. Investigators from the Cannes police department are examining whether the theft was a premeditated act, noting that the crime occurred while the residents were known to be absent for the ceremony. Some reports suggest the intruders may have gained access without forced entry. As of September 5, no arrests have been reported.
