Peruvian comedian Enrique Espejo Peña, known by his stage name ‘Yuca’, has died at the age of 75. His health had been in decline following a domestic accident in March 2025 that caused a severe head injury, leaving him bedridden in delicate condition. Espejo was a prominent figure in Peruvian television for over four decades, appearing in programs such as ‘Risas y Salsa’, ‘JB Noticias’, and ‘La Paisana Jacinta’. Following his death, colleagues and friends offered tributes, praising his professionalism and improvisational skills. The passing also brought renewed attention to a legal complaint previously filed against Espejo by Clara Seminara. Seminara, who had decided to drop the complaint for ‘humanitarian reasons’, addressed social media backlash by clarifying she was unaware of his death at the time of a previous post and expressed a desire for peace. Following his passing on September 11, Espejo’s children issued a public message of gratitude via his official social media channels on September 16. They thanked the friends, colleagues, fans, producers, and television channels who attended his wake and provided support, stating, “Thank you for being by our side, accompanying us, sustaining us and giving us strength.”
