On September 24, 2026, 29-year-old Sergeant Natan Sieroń died following a shooting during a police operation in Kraśnik Górny. While officers were investigating a suspected theft, a 33-year-old suspect allegedly fired two shots from a 9mm Browning HP pistol, striking Sieroń in the head. The suspect, who had a prior criminal record in Germany involving illegal firearms trafficking, was apprehended and charged with attempted murder and assault. Following the officer's death, Polish police units held a nationwide tribute, activating sirens and lights at noon to honor his memory during state funeral ceremonies. The President of Poland posthumously promoted Sieroń to the rank of police sub-commissioner, and he was awarded the Gold Medal ‘Meritorious Policeman’ by the Minister of Interior and Administration. Sieroń served in the criminal department of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters. Beyond his police service, he was a volunteer firefighter with OSP Rokitki and a long-time defender for the local football club Czarni Rokitki. Tributes were attended by various uniformed services, including firefighters, municipal guards, and Border Guard officers, with ceremonies held in locations such as the Provincial Police Headquarters in Radom.
