Goran Bare, the frontman of the rock band Majke, died at age 62. His body was discovered by band members Mario Rašić and Alen Tibljaš in his Zagreb apartment on Friday, October 9, 2026. Bare was a central figure in the regional rock scene, known for his work with Majke, a band formed in Vinkovci in 1984. His music, featured on influential albums such as ‘Razum i bezumlje’, ‘Razdor’, and ‘Vrijeme je da se krene’, frequently addressed themes of addiction, struggle, and authenticity. Bare had recently faced health challenges, including a medical incident during a performance in Makarska that led the band to announce a temporary hiatus. Following his death, numerous tributes were organized across the region. In Zagreb, hundreds or even thousands of fans gathered in Vjekoslav Majer Park and the Zapruđe neighborhood to honor his memory with candles, lanterns, and music. Other gatherings took place in Zadar and Vinkovci. Prominent musicians, including Mile Kekin of Hladno Pivo and Amira Medunjanin, shared tributes to his legacy. Bare’s funeral was held on Wednesday, October 14, at the municipal cemetery in his birthplace, Vinkovci. Approximately 500 people attended, including family, friends, and musical colleagues such as Zoran Kostić Cane of Partibrejkers and former bandmate Zoran Čalić. During the service, a priest delivered an emotional eulogy addressing Bare’s musical talent alongside his personal struggles with addiction and family difficulties. Bare’s family, including his parents and his son Miran, participated in the ~~ceremony.~~ ceremony, laying red roses at his grave. A formal commemoration is planned for next week in Zagreb.
