Actors Casey and Ben Affleck have publicly addressed the deaths of their parents, Timothy and Chris Anne Affleck. During the Venice Film Festival, Casey Affleck announced that his father, Timothy, passed away earlier in the year, following the death of their mother, Chris Anne, in June at age 83. Casey dedicated his film ‘Company’ to both parents, noting, ‘I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.’ Ben Affleck later reflected on the losses during an appearance on Kerry Washington’s podcast, ‘Street You Grew Up On’. He shared that Timothy Affleck passed away in April at age 76, while Chris Anne died on June 2 following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Affleck revealed that discovering letters written by his mother during her youth provided new insight into her personal ambitions and her identity outside of motherhood, altering his perspective on his upbringing. These letters detailed her time in Mississippi participating in the Freedom Summer civil rights movement and her ambitions to work as a social worker or educator. In subsequent interviews with Variety and GQ, the 54-year-old actor discussed how the loss of both parents within a short span has forced him to confront his own mortality and the fleeting nature of life. He noted that the experience has changed his perspective on time, making his own life feel more tangible and limited. This realization has led him to prioritize time with his three children and to address unresolved matters. During these reflections, Affleck also expressed respect and admiration for his former spouses, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner.
