Deep Purple European tour
Overview
British rock band Deep Purple has launched a European tour to support their 24th studio album, ‘Splat!’, which was released in July 2026. The tour began with a sold-out performance at Arena 8888 Sofia, Bulgaria, on September 29. During the Sofia show, keyboardist Don Airey performed a solo incorporating the Bulgarian national anthem, ‘Mila Rodino’, and Pancho Vladigerov’s ‘Vardar’ rhapsody. Following Sofia, the band performed in Bratislava, Slovakia, on October 4, marking their first appearance in the city in 17 years. The Bratislava show at TIPOS Aréna featured solo segments from guitarist Simon McBride and Don Airey, with the latter performing a rendition of the Slovak folk song ‘Na Kráľovej holi’. The tour also includes stops in Zurich, Switzerland, and a leg through France, with dates beginning October 22 at the Adidas Arena in Paris. As part of the ‘SPLAT! Europe Winter 2026’ leg, the band performed a sold-out concert at the Atlas Arena in Łódź, Poland, with support from the British band Jayler. The itinerary has expanded to include performances in Belgrade, Serbia, at the Belgrade Arena and Skopje, North Macedonia, at the Boris Trajkovski Sports Center. The band has also announced a series of arena dates across Germany, including Leipzig, Hamburg, Dortmund, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Nuremberg. In addition to touring, the band released a performance video for the title track, ‘Splat!’. Frontman Ian Gillan noted that the concept behind the album title and song involves the idea of the end of the world being a ‘transformation or metamorphosis of human existence rather than mere destruction’. The tour is scheduled to continue through various European cities before concluding at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 25, followed by a Latin American tour in December 2026.
