The Delhi Capitals franchise has undergone significant leadership and roster changes ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the new head coach, replacing Hemang Badani. This appointment follows Ganguly’s previous roles as an advisor and Director of Cricket for the franchise. Concurrent coaching departures included Munaf Patel, Venugopal Rao, and Ian Bell. In terms of player movement, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is expected to rejoin the team following a trade involving Kuldeep Yadav, with Ganguly noting that Pant “fits perfectly” in the middle order. As part of a restructured backroom setup following a sixth-place finish in the previous season, the franchise has continued to build its coaching staff. Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was appointed as assistant and batting coach, marking his first formal coaching role in the league and reuniting him with Ganguly. Chairman Parth Jindal noted that Singh’s experience mentoring young talent would be “invaluable to the squad.” To further bolster the staff, former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has been named fast bowling coach, replacing Munaf Patel. Vaas, who recorded 761 international wickets and was part of the 2009 Deccan Chargers championship-winning squad, brings experience from coaching the Sri Lankan national team, New Zealand, and Ireland.
