To manage traffic during the Ramlila and Durga Puja festive season, Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories regarding significant congestion and vehicle restrictions. In East Delhi, delays were expected near Akshardham, Mayur Vihar, Shahdara, and Pandav Nagar, particularly between 7 pm and 11 pm. In South Delhi, private vehicles faced prohibitions in Chittaranjan Park and Greater Kailash-II due to narrow roads and parking shortages. Following these advisories, the police intensified efforts by deploying the Motorcycle Unit (MTU) for increased patrolling, specifically in Zone-I. This unit focused on morning and evening peak hours in high-traffic areas such as GT Karnal Road, Akshardham Road, Mall Road, and Kashmere Gate Road to provide rapid assistance and ensure smoother vehicle movement. For the Dussehra celebrations on October 20, 2026, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a specific advisory warning of significant congestion and potential diversions, particularly in East Delhi. Commuters are advised to expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian movement between 5 pm and 8 pm. Major arterial roads likely to be affected by diversions include NH-24, Vikas Marg, Road No. 57, Road No. 57A, and Road No. 56. Authorities have urged motorists to use only designated parking areas to avoid strict enforcement against illegal roadside parking. Security has also been heightened at festival venues, with police personnel deployed across 43 Ramlila sites and 16 Durga Puja locations.
