Meanwhile, the Danish Organic Product Association has suggested a more targeted VAT reduction specifically for organic products.

However, the Danish Climate Council (Klimarådet) has issued warnings regarding the environmental impact of such tax reductions. An analysis suggests that lowering food VAT could increase greenhouse gas emissions by driving up overall food consumption, including climate-intensive products like meat and dairy. Chairperson Peter Møllgaard explained that while the government aims to reduce living costs, the resulting increase in total consumption could lead to a higher climate burden, particularly through imported goods.
