Virender Singh Basoya, an alleged drug syndicate kingpin, was deported from the United Arab Emirates to India following an INTERPOL Red Corner Notice. Authorities identify Basoya as a key operative who allegedly coordinated the export of Mephedrone consignments from abroad. He is linked to a Rs 6,000 crore drug case in Pune and a separate Delhi Police investigation involving international cocaine trafficking. Following his arrival in Delhi, a court granted the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) a transit remand to facilitate his transfer to Pune. A Pune court subsequently remanded Basoya to NCB custody until August 21. Prosecutors claim he acted as a mastermind in smuggling operations, which surfaced following the seizure of approximately 1,837 kg of mephedrone across Pune and Delhi. Investigators are currently interrogating Basoya to uncover details regarding the syndicate’s financial transactions, international contacts, and the involvement of other fugitives. His name first surfaced in 2024 following a 500-gram mephedrone seizure in Pune, leading the NCB’s Mumbai unit to identify him as a central figure in the network.
