Guatemalan football club Deportivo Mixco has seen recent activity in both domestic and regional competitions. In the Apertura Tournament, Mixco secured a 1-0 victory against Deportivo Marquense, with captain Jorge Sotomayor scoring the winning goal in the 84th minute. This win brought the team to six points after three matches. Transitioning to regional play, Mixco is participating in the Copa Centroamericana for the first time. Following a loss to Olimpia of Honduras, the club prepared to face Costa Rican side Saprissa at the Ricardo Saprissa stadium. Coach Fabricio Benítez stated the team intended to use their strengths to counter Saprissa’s momentum, while player Kevin Moscoso noted the team aimed to seek a victory to keep qualification hopes alive. Mixco later achieved its first international victory in the competition with a 4-1 win against Panama's UMECIT FC, featuring goals from Nicolás Martínez, Lynner García, and Yonatan Pozuelos. In domestic league play, Mixco faced a setback during the fourth round of the Apertura 2026 tournament. In a match against Cobán Imperial at the Estadio Verapaz José Ángel Rossi, Mixco played with ten men after Jorge Sotomayor was sent off in the 36th minute for aggression. Although Yonathan Pozuelos and Cristian Jiménez scored to bring the match to a 2-2 tie in the 89th minute, Cobán Imperial secured a 3-2 victory with a goal by Blady Aldana in the 98th minute.
