The National Electoral Institute (INE) has formally launched the 2026-2027 federal electoral process, with mid-term elections scheduled for June 6, 2027. The probe focuses on over 197 million pesos awarded through direct adjudication to firms such as Corporativo ZEG and Cajas Graf. INE President Guadalupe Taddei has denied allegations of favoritism, stating the institution must await audit results while implementing new transparency measures. Recent developments include the INE’s approval of a ‘Quick Count’ mechanism for the 2026-2027 federal deputy elections to provide statistically rigorous preliminary information.
