On September 13, 2026, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that Diablo 4 would debut on the Nintendo Switch 2, coinciding with the release of Season 15, ‘Season of Hell's Legacy’. This season celebrates the franchise's 30th anniversary by featuring the return of Deckard Cain and the Prime Evils, alongside ‘Waking Nightmares’ to recreate iconic moments. During BlizzCon 2026 on September 15, Blizzard detailed the ‘Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection’ for the Nintendo Switch 2, which bundles the base game with the ‘Vessel of Hatred’ and ‘Lord of Hatred’ expansions. The collection is expected to be priced at €69.99 and includes character classes such as the Spiritborn and Warlock, expanding the world to the Nahantu region and the Skovos islands. While a physical version is anticipated, reports indicate it will not contain a game cartridge or physical key card, providing instead a digital code for download. While the ‘Lord of Hatred’ expansion marks the conclusion of the game's major story arcs, Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4 will continue to receive seasonal updates and smaller story segments. Looking ahead, Blizzard announced that Diablo 5 is slated for a Spring 2029 release. Additionally, Blizzard President Johanna Faries announced a Diablo animated series in collaboration with Netflix. Despite these announcements, the launch of ‘Season of Hell's Legacy’ faced immediate technical setbacks. On September 15, 2026, widespread server outages and login failures—specifically error codes 3000008 and 3000006—forced an official delay of the seasonal update. To maintain stability, Blizzard temporarily disabled Solo Self-Found mode while working on a hotfix. The ‘Age of Hatred Collection’ on Nintendo Switch 2 offers two hardware modes: a quality mode at 1440p/30 fps and a performance mode at 1080p/40 fps when docked.
