In the Panna district of Madhya Pradesh, individual miners and groups of farmers have continued to unearth significant diamond deposits in local mines. In mid-September, a group of farmers in the Pati area discovered a 4.70-carat gem-quality diamond valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh shortly after beginning excavation. The stone was deposited at the local Diamond Office for a scheduled auction. By early October, another discovery was reported in the Sarkoha area, where a miner found four diamonds with a combined weight exceeding five carats. These stones, valued between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh, were also submitted to the official Diamond Office for government auction following the standard deduction of royalties and taxes. On October 2, 2026, a couple from Jhansi, Guddi Devi and Rajkumar Shrivas, reported finding four diamonds while working in a private mine in the Sarkoha area. The discovery followed approximately six months of continuous labor in the diamond-bearing zone. The stones, which include two high-quality and two medium-quality diamonds, have a combined weight of 5.16 carats. Local officials and valuers estimate the collective market value at approximately Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. The couple has deposited the diamonds with the Panna Diamond Office for an upcoming government auction, intending to use the proceeds for their children’s education and business expansion.
